Glenn Hoch, Washington State Licensed Mortgage Broker

From First Responder to Mortgage Broker

Before his mortgage career, Glenn spent 13 years as a police officer, firefighter, and EMT. That background shaped the way he approaches every file: steady, deliberate, and focused on working the problem without manufacturing drama. Clients frequently describe the same traits in their reviews, calm communication, clear explanations, and a willingness to keep moving when loan conditions or underwriting requests pile up.

When he transitioned into mortgage lending more than two decades ago, Glenn brought that same operational mindset with him. Mortgage files have a lot of moving parts: income documentation, appraisal timelines, credit nuances, lender overlays, title issues, rate lock windows, and closing logistics. Most borrowers don't want to manage all of that themselves, they want someone who has seen it before and knows what order to work the problems in.

Outside the Office

When Glenn isn't working a mortgage file, you'll find him surrounded by family. He and his wife have 5 kids and 15 grandkids, which is its own kind of full-time job, and a reminder, every day, of what most of his clients are working toward when they buy a home. It's a big part of why Glenn treats every file like it's going to one of his own.

What Glenn Does

Glenn is an independent mortgage broker, which means he shops dozens of lenders to shop competitive rates and structure for each borrower rather than being locked into a single bank's product menu. The practical result: for any given borrower profile, he can compare multiple offers and choose the one with the right combination of rate, fees, and flexibility for that specific situation.

Where Glenn Works

Glenn's office is at 1592 Main St. Suite A-1 in Freeland, WA, at the center of South Whidbey. He works with buyers, move-up homeowners, veterans, and refinance clients across:

Most appointments can be handled in person at the Freeland office, over the phone, or by video call, depending on what works well for each borrower's schedule.

What Clients Say

Public reviews reflect a consistent pattern, responsive communication, clear explanations, and mortgage products matched to each borrower's situation. Reviewers frequently highlight Glenn's patience with first-time buyers, his proactive handling of VA loan files, and his willingness to explain the underwriting and rate-locking process in plain language. For borrowers who've had bad experiences with banks or national direct lenders, the local, independent structure often feels very different.

How the Process Works

Every file with Glenn follows the same predictable arc, which keeps timelines realistic and surprises rare:

  1. Discovery call. Review goals, budget, timeline, and any credit or income situations that need attention.
  2. Pre-approval. Assemble documentation and issue a strong pre-approval letter backed by multiple lender options.
  3. Offer strategy. Align rate locks, lender credits, and closing costs to the specific property and negotiation.
  4. Smooth closing. Coordinate appraisal, underwriting, disclosures, and final funding while keeping the borrower informed at each step.
